This is an ancient bronze vessel, on display in the Louvre museum. I haven't painted anything like this before, and it has been challenging to try and get the patina and shine of the metal. I could keep working on this for weeks but part of this challenge is to call each painting finished and see what I can achieve in a day. (And I'm not sure about the background colour so I might change that tomorrow!)
Today I wanted to do some ink drawing, so I decided to sketch this gorgeous little statue I saw in the Louvre. From Ancient Greece, this terracotta sculpture is titled "Danseuse Voilee" (veiled dancer).
Our lemon tree has gone nuts this year and is producing huge fat juicy fruit. This is one of our lemons resting on our sandstone patio in the Spring sunshine.
Today I finished off a painting I've been working on for a few weeks - a street corner in Paris. This is acrylic on paper, A3 size.
A bit of abstract fun. I experimented with pouring acrylic paint thinned with water and binder medium to make the background.
I enjoyed painting this today, I really had no idea what to do so I just played with colour for a while, and then the idea came to me. These are grevillea flowers from Mum and Dad's garden.
Today was Father's Day and I spent time with my Dad and husband enjoying a lovely lunch and playing with the kids. I tried to paint this evening but my eyes were too tired so I gave up. Instead here is a photo I took today of one of the grevillea trees in my parents' garden:
I'm enjoying seeing all the blossom trees start to bloom with the coming of Spring, so I decided to paint these - I have taken a few cues from the beautiful soul, Vincent:
